Use DeepL Glossary to customize DeepL
Use a glossary so that DeepL always translates certains terms as desired. For example, if you want to translate Heile
to 黑乐
, you can add add Heile -> 黑乐
to the glossary.
It’s super easy to use DeepL glossary with GT4T. Simply add your terms in a spreadsheet and save and GT4T takes care of the rest automatically.
Go to GT4T main settings screen. Click DeepL Glossary
-> New
to create a new glossary. A spreadsheet opens. Add your terms and save and the glossary will be automatically effective.

Go to GT4T main Settings Screen. Click

->New

Name your glossary and click
OK

A spreadsheet will open in
Microsoft Excel
or other editors, typeHeile
in the first column, and type黑乐
in the second column. Save and close the spreadsheet. The glossary will be automatically effective. -
Next time when you translate sentences containing
Heile
using DeepL with GT4T, it will be translated as黑乐
. The glossary is effective both with GT4T add-on (the shortcuts) and the File Translator.
Edit an existing glossary

Select a glossary from the drop-down list and click
Edit
. -
The glossary will open as as spreadsheet in
Microsoft Excel
or other editors. Edit your terms. Save and close the spreadsheet. The glossary will be automatically effective.
Use another glossary
Simply select a glossary from the drop-down list and GT4T will translate using the selected glossary.
Disable DeepL glossary
Select No glossary
at the glossary selection drop-down list.
Delete a glossary
Select a glossary and click Delete
.
Warning
- Your glossary is uploaded to DeepL server. Always back up your glossary locally.
- If you are using GT4T in trial mode or in pay as you go mode, your glossaries will be lost when you switch to time-based or char-based plans.
- If you are NOT using your own DeepL api, your glossaries are under a shared DeepL account. Aways use your own API if you are concerned about the security of your glossaries.
- DeepL doesn’t always use your glossary.
