How much is it?

The GT4T downloaded and installed is a full-featured trial version. At the end of the trial users can choose to continue to use its free features (all dictionaries, glossary functions without automatic translation function), or they can choose to buy a Pro package. GT4T charges are simple and clear, but also very flexible.

Pro packages are divided into packages that charge by character (pay only when you use, no time limit), and packages that charge by time (use translation shortcuts no usage limit, document translation capped at 100,000 characters per month).

Yearly, half-yearly and monthly packages include only GT4T shortcuts, and there is still a limit of 100,000 characters per month when using the file translator. **

How are characters counted?

One letter in English counts as one character, and spaces and punctuation marks also count as characters. One Chinese character counts as one character.

Each machine translation engine also charges differently, for example, if you buy the Advanced Pro version ( Pro 1) characters and use DeepL to translate 1000 characters, 1000 characters will be deducted; if you use Google to translate 1000 characters, 926 characters will be deducted, and if you use Youdao, 383 characters will be deducted.

For example,

There are 10 characters in total. If you use the multi-engine feature of GT4T, and you use DeepL, Google and Youdao at the same time to translate the sentence, the actual number of characters deducted is

10 + 9.26 + 3.83 = 23 (rounded)

I bought a monthly subscription, how come I am prompted to run out of characters?

The monthly package of GT4T has unlimited characters only when using GT4T translation shortcuts. When you use GT4T File Translator, there is a 100,000 characters monthly limit.

You can additionally purchase a per-character package dedicated to file translation, attached to the current monthly package. This means you can activate one monthly subscription and one character subscription on the same computer. This way, you deduct the characters from the character package when using the file translator. When you use the translation shortcuts, the monthly package takes effect and no characters are deducted.

I am worried that the content of my translation will not be leaked.

GT4T is more secure than any web-based counterpart. GT4T is installed on your own computer. Your translation data will not be uploaded to the GT4T server and will be directly submitted to automatic translation engines (Except for PDF or image files, which need to be uploaded to the server for recognition and conversion).

In addition, GT4T uses the official paid API to interact with automatic translation engines. Several major automatic engines promise additional data protection when using the official API and do not collect user information, making them more secure than using the web.

How to change the language pair?

Go to the bottom right corner of the screen (Windows) or top right corner (Mac) and find the GT4T icon, click on the pop-up menu, and then click on “Language pair”.

I pressed the shortcut key and the selected text was not translated

GT4T may occasionally conflict with Chinese input methods. When this happens, please press win+space to turn off the Chinese input method when using shortcut keys.
